"BECOME MY OWN BOSS"

Frida currently helps a friend to sell second-hand clothes in the Namatala slum. However, Frida is a talented seamstress and hopes to start her own business making and designing clothes. Frida used her sewing skills to sew bags for 1000 Shillings this year. In her own words Frida’s goal is to “become a boss of her own.” 

 

PEACE AND PRECIOUS 

At the age of 30, Frida is a young single mother of two, Peace and Precious. Frida knows that she is doing the best she can do for her children, and her biggest source of pride is how she is raising them. However, her biggest concern is that her children are growing up in a bad neighborhood and are around a peer group that will influence them to form bad behaviors. Frida believes that the success of her business will positively influence her children and their opportunities for better education. The pride Frida has in her children can be seen in their names – Peace and Precious. Peace was named as the child was born during a stressful time and brought Frida Peace, Precious was named to signify the precious gift that the child is to Frida.
